Project Description: |
|
Food For Kids program provides schools with new backpacks of nutritious foods. |
Outcomes
- “Packs and Pouches” served 190 pregnant teens and 142 teen mothers, and improved the nutritional value of the food provided by the Rice Depot.
Lives Affected
330 teen mothers and pregnant teens were impacted by the food program.
Cost Effectiveness
Shelf-life of the healthier foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, was too short to be effectively incorporated into the packs and pouches program. Were able to identify some low-cost alternatives for high-protein that could be provided to assist in the development of children.
