- 50% decrease in women with late or no prenatal care presenting for delivery at Washington Regional Medical Center.
Lives Affected
987 women participated in Prenatal Pathways, receiving instruction and prenatal vitamins.
65% of these women were Hispanic.
Cost Effectiveness
The average cost of hospital claims for women with no prenatal care was $3,930 compared to a woman who had prenatal care at $1,589. Based on the savings of $2,341 per mother who received care, in the twelve months of 2006, the Prenatal Pathways Program saved hospital charges of more than $2,310,567 in Washington County.
