Fitness is Fun program serves preschool children in northwest Arkansas providing weekly physical education classes. |
Outcomes
- Pre- and post-testing of children’s knowledge about muscle identification, safety and nutrition concepts went from single-digit proficiency to above 70 percent proficiency.

Children participated in approximately 30 minutes of physical activity per weekly session.
Lives Affected
707 children received weekly instruction in physical education and nutrition in 12 locations in northwest Arkansas.
Cost Effectiveness
The annual cost per child for weekly physical education (for 707 children) was $112.
