Project Description: |
|
Helping Schools Help Themselves - Resources for Schools program provides school guidelines for healthy eating, physical activity and obesity prevention required by state and federal legislation. |
Outcomes
- Educational materials produced and distributed to schools on physical activity ideas, vended snack ideas, rewards ideas and fundraising ideas that are not food-centered.
Lives Affected
100 informational sheets distributed to 1,100 schools for use by teachers, reaching a potential 450,000 public school students.
Cost Effectiveness
There are nearly 450,000 public school students in our state. That number divided into the expenditure of this grant comes to about 7 to 8 cents per student. If the long-term impact prevents any student from becoming or staying obese, we have saved many times over the grant cost.
