Project Description: |
|
Arkansas HOPE program provides nutrition and physical activity lessons for elementary schools in northwest and southwest Arkansas. |
Outcomes
- Training for teachers at five schools in NW and SW Arkansas, to implement Take 10 (exercise) and OrganWise Guys (nutrition) education in their classrooms. All grades reported increased physical activity hours and better nutrition habits.
Lives Affected
49 teachers underwent training.
1,043 students participated in programs.
Cost Effectiveness
If you calculate the cost per child based on expenditures to-date ($87,187.66/1,043), the cost of the program would be ~ $83 per child. However, the parents of each child also were reached through information shared by the children and the take-home materials parents received.
