Arkansas Asthma Open Airways for Schools project. |
Outcomes
- Presented OAS program to 1,040 asthmatic children in 64 schools across 17 counties. Provided asthma education resources to parents, teachers and school health officials. Raised awareness of the disease with non-asthmatic children.
Lives Affected
OAS reached 1,040 asthmatic kids, 1,110 school parents and 306 school personnel.
Asthma awareness education was provided to 4,028 students.
Cost Effectiveness
Built diverse volunteer base (train the trainer) to take program to other schools. Formed networks and partnerships with communities and educational institutions.
